Canadian Auto Dealer News, Links & More

There's an advertising channel sitting on almost every dealer's phone right now. It costs nothing to list on, it reaches millions of Canadian shoppers, and most dealers underuse it for one reason: posting to it manually is tedious.
That channel is Facebook Marketplace. Our Facebook Marketplace Auto-Fill tool is now live and available to every Dealerpull dealer. Below is why Marketplace is worth your attention, and what the tool actually does about the posting problem.

Marketplace isn't a side feature anymore. It has over 1.1 billion monthly active users globally, making it one of the largest commerce platforms in the world by active user count. Roughly 1 in 3 Facebook users interacts with Marketplace listings every month. Charle AgencySocialPilot
Now bring that home. Made in CA puts Facebook's Canadian audience at over 29.4 million active users. Apply that same one-in-three monthly rate and you're looking at somewhere near 10 million Canadians touching Marketplace in a given month — and vehicles are consistently one of the platform's busiest categories. That's a rough estimate rather than a Meta-published figure, since Meta doesn't break out vehicle searches by province. But even a conservative read puts millions of Canadian eyeballs within reach of a listing that costs you nothing to post. Made in CA
To be clear: Facebook isn't replacing AutoTrader, Kijiji or CarGurus, and we'd never tell you to drop them. It's an additional free audience alongside the paid channels you already run.
What makes it worth the effort is how people shop. AutoTrader's own research found 82% of Canadian car shoppers use online sources during the buying process, with online automotive marketplaces the leading information source for used car shoppers. And 39% of used vehicle buyers now visit online marketplaces 11 times or more before they buy. TRADER CorporationCanadian Auto Dealer
That last number is the one dealers should sit with. Shoppers aren't glancing once. They're checking repeatedly over a two-to-four week window, comparing prices and watching for fresh arrivals. If your listing went up three weeks ago and hasn't been touched since, you're effectively invisible to the buyer who started looking last Tuesday. Freshness wins — and freshness means posting regularly, which is exactly where manual posting collapses.

Do the math on your own lot. Say a unit takes eight to ten minutes to post properly: pick the vehicle, upload eight or ten photos one at a time, type the year, make, model, trim, mileage, transmission, drivetrain, fuel type and condition, then write the description and set the price. Forty vehicles is most of a working day. Every week, forever.
So what actually happens? Your salesperson posts the ten units they think will move. The rest never make it up. And the ones that do go up have problems, because typing the same details forty times is how mistakes happen — the wrong mileage, last month's price, a missing trim level, a description copied from a different unit, or photos that never finished uploading.
Those aren't small errors. A wrong price in a Marketplace ad is a conversation you have to walk back with a buyer standing in front of you.

It's a Chrome extension. You install it, and it pulls straight from your live inventory management records in Dealerpull.
Open Marketplace, pick a vehicle, and the listing fills itself in — description, specs, pricing and photos, all sourced from the record you already built when the unit landed on the lot. No re-typing. No second system to keep in sync. If the price changed in Dealerpull this morning, that's the price that posts.
Because the data comes from one place, the ad matches the vehicle. That's the part dealers told us mattered most.

This matters, so we'll be direct about it.
We never ask for your Facebook credentials. We don't store them, we don't have them, and we never log into or access your Facebook account. There's no bot posting on your behalf and nothing happening while you're not looking.
You stay in complete control of what actually gets posted. You open Marketplace yourself, you see the listing filled in in front of you, and nothing goes live until you say so. If you want to change the price, tweak the description or drop a photo before publishing, you do — it's your listing, on your account, published by you.
All we've removed is the manual data entry. That's the whole job.
One reminder: you're still responsible for following Facebook's terms of service when using the tool. Our help article covers best practices, and it's worth five minutes before you start posting.

A few things we added along the way, mostly from dealer feedback:

Here's the piece that turns this from a shortcut into a process.
We added a column to your inventory list view showing the last time each vehicle was posted. One glance and you know which vehicles were last sent, what's gone stale, and what never went up at all — so you can keep your listings fresh instead of guessing. Sort by it and you've got your posting list for the morning. No spreadsheet, no sticky notes, no relying on someone's memory.
That's the same list view where you already manage costs, pricing, profit and third-party syndication. Marketplace activity now lives beside it, instead of in a browser tab nobody's tracking.

The posting tool is an add-on to a full dealer management system, not a standalone product. Dealerpull also gives you:
